Minister Sertić: The Market is the Only Success Measure

International Fair of Furniture, Equipment and Interior Decoration and International Fair of Woodworking Machinery, Tools and Production Materials have been festively opened at Belgrade Fair. This year’s events are held for the 53rd time and after such a long tradition, they have been organized by double new conception – pointing out the designer oriented companies and business visit increase through the Hosted Buyer Program introduction. After the welcoming speech for the exhibitors, visitors and all Belgrade Fair guests by Ms. Danka Selić, CEO, and a brief presentation of the General Sponsor – Forma Ideale company, celebrating this year two decades since its establishing, the International Fair of Furniture, Equipment and Interior Decoration and International Fair of Woodworking Machinery, Tools and Production Materials were festively declared opened by Mr. Željko Sertić, Minister of Economy in the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

– I would like to congratulate Belgrade Fair for the good organization, innovations and the fact there is not a single free square meter at the Fair. The exhibitors filled in all available halls and this speaks enough about the businessmen expectations in this industry, said Mr. Sertić.

He explained the statistics showed the optimism was not baseless, since the export value in the furniture industry amounted last year to 190 million US Dollars and this year, in nine months, the export reached the value of 950 million US Dollars. It was good that 13 thousand people were employed in this branch and final products were exported, rather than just the wood. Under such competition and 678 companies were operating in the furniture industry, 90 percent of them as private property, the market was the only success measure.

Mr. Sertić also expressed his pleasure due to the return of some companies that had not exhibited at the Fair for a long time, such as Simpo, an exhibitor after 27 years, as well as due to the presentation of some worldwide famous brands, such as IKEA.
